Hi, I am Megan Lupa, I was born and raised in the beautiful Niagara Region and live in Campden Ontario. I currently train at the Toronto Dive Academy in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I have been diving competitively for 9 years (since 2013). I am both a springboard and platform diver, but my preference is the platform. This past season, I have also competed in several high diving events, I have competitive dive lists from 12m and 15m and I plan on going higher in the future! I would love to be able to continue my high diving training in the off season. I have been athlete most of my life and enjoyed participating in many sports such as soccer, swimming and gymnastics.
I have competed internationally two times. My first international competition was for the Junior Pan American Games, in Chile. I came third in both the 1m and 3m springboard events. My second international competition was in Spain. I came first on platform and second on 3 meter springboard. I recently competed in my first senior national event and placed 7th in finals, it was an honour being able to compete against some of our Olympians who are some of my role models!
I have been the recipient of a couple of awards. I have been a Quest for Gold (Dive Ontario) recipient for the last 3 years and in 2019/2020, I was the recipient of the Canadian Olympic Foundations Future Olympians Award.
I usually miss school two times a week for diving. With this, I know how to balance my school work with my diving schedule. I have been on the honour roll for the past two years, and planning on making it on the honour roll for the next two years. In addition to school and diving, I also completed my national lifeguarding certification and am working as a lifeguard at the pool where I train. I also help out with the learn to dive program and the summer camps that are run by our club.
My goal with this scholarship is to find a great school with a good diving program, and be able to have an academic program that fits my likes. I believe I will be a great fit with most schools because I have a strong combination of academic skills and athletic abilities.
