My name is Braeden Stewart, and I am a diver for Cheyenne East High School.I am currently in my third year of high school diving (2018 season - Junior year). Our State Championship will be in early November, and I qualified for State during my first meet this season.
My junior year was not my best season but I did achieve small goals such as a 303c after having a rough time with it last year and I also placed 2nd at the regional competition, but state was not my best performance this year. Even though my junior year didn't goes as plan it was a great learning experience I accomplished a lot during my sophomore year (2017 season). During regional's, I placed 4th overall with a rough day. During state, my goal was to place in the top 6 and I did exactly that. I placed 6th overall, which was the highest placing girl on the Cheyenne East Swim and Dive team. I also wanted to brake 300 in an 11 dive meet, and I did that my first 11 dive meet of the season and PR with 352.30 at the Sheridan Invite. I also wanted to brake 200 and I did that as well with a PR of 204. I lettered my freshman year and I was the highest-placing freshman on my team during my freshman year. Out of the entire state of Wyoming, only three freshman qualified for the state meet in the 4A division (which is the highest division in Wyoming) during my freshman year. Myself and one other freshman made it to the top 12. At Regionals, I placed 5th and was the highest-placing freshman that season year.
My diving skills are truly an extension of the past 13 years I've spent in gymnastics. Because our state does not offer competitive high school gymnastics, gymnasts either transition into diving, cheerleading or into track/field. I have found that as a level 8 gymnast, my skills have translated well into my diving. I attended Frontier Gymnastics and retired as a level 8 gymnast so that I could focus on diving. I competed in my first gymnastics meet when I was 5 years old.
In addition to diving, I am a varsity cheerleader at my high school. I like to joke that I'm only on the squad because they need my tumbling skills. Tumbling is certainly my strength, but I am learning to come out of my shell a bit more with the actual cheering and dancing parts.
Academically, I am enrolled in the Advanced Placement (AP program) . This program focuses on a rigorous academic schedule that specialize in advanced-level classes. I am in advanced math, and have been since elementary school. This year, I'm enrolled in AP Physics and AP calculus AB. During my sophomore year, I took Honors Trigonometry and Differential Calculus and AP US History -- both are college level courses. I was enrolled in Honors Pre-Calculus as a freshman. This class is typically reserved for junior-level students. I am also took three years of French. I carry a 3.7 GPA.
I am in the DECA club at my school. In DECA, we work on projects that help market different events in our community. As a Junior, I was elected to an officer position for our chapter. During my Sophomore year we worked to raise money for the Shrine Hospital for Children and I attended the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Atlanta in April, 2018. My freshman year we were working on a promotional project for Cheyenne Frontier Days, the world's largest outdoor rodeo. I have found that marketing allows me to be creative and expressive.
I have played competitive softball since I was 5 years old. I competed two season season on Extreme, which is the elite girls' travel softball club in Cheyenne. I was a pitcher for this team.
After high school, I will attend college and focus on either medicine or engineering. I have the drive and the academic performance to reach my goals. I would love to dive at the collegiate level.
I hope to visit with some of you soon.
