I hope that coaches will see how much more potential and upside I have compared to other recruits who have played much longer.
The reason I say that, for example, is I was shocked after just my first year of golf to win the NCGA WGANC Most Improved Junior Girl Golfer for 2021. Within 9 months, I dropped my golf handicap by 36 points beating out 6600 other golfers. I was able to compete with girls playing golf almost 10 years longer than I have. I was in awe to see Paula Creamer won this same award in 1998. Her and my name are now on this perpetual trophy permanently housed in Poppy Hills in Pebble Beach.
I hope it is obvious how hard I worked to accomplish this in the short time. I played all year round in dozens of tournaments and school matches and competitions to get better. I am familiar with having to work harder and be more dedicated than the average person. I have always been good at athletics and I am a really fast learner when a coach tells me what to do or how to get better. However, I struggle a lot with academics and have to work extra hard at school. I am not shy to tell people I have dyslexia because I know how hard it is and other people struggle too. It doesn’t always feel like it, but somehow, I think this makes me a better person. I know what it means to struggle and have to work harder at things you want.
Even though I’ve played golf a short time, I am not new to competitive sports. I played competitive Soccer for most of my life and at one time was in a US Soccer Development Academy. I was a really aggressive center forward who got a lot of goals (and yellow cards). I guess I realized I am very competitive. COVID kind of messed things up. I wanted to keep busy during COVID so I took up golf in February of 2021 and golf has become my passion.
So, as I started above, I think I could have a lot of upside with 4 years of college competition if a coach would be willing to take a chance on me and help me develop and get to the next level. Hopefully you can see I am a fast learner who can accomplish great things and I am not easy to give up or shy away from hard work.
