Hello! My name is Ashling (Ash) Filippi. I am a junior at Mercy Burlingame in Burlingame, California. I currently play for Belmont United as a defensive midfielder and a striker. I have been playing soccer for 12-13 years and competitively playing for 10. Soccer is more than a sport to me, it's how I have met some of my best friends, where some of my best memories have taken place, and where I can be myself. One of the things that make me stand out from other recruits doesn't take place on the field but in the community, and that's my passion for volunteer work. One of my proudest achievements was my 8th-grade graduation where I received an award for having the most hours, I had about 60 hours of volunteer work ranging from many different non-profit organizations such as the ASPCA, AYSO, and many others. My volunteer work has helped me realize how lucky and fortunate I am to be blessed with all I have. Two of my goals for playing at the collegiate level are to better my skillset and to build a community where everyone is welcome. Many coaches have told me how coachable I am and how one of my best assets is how I am coachable and how well I take direction and implement it into my game and I pride myself on that. I look forward to continuing my soccer journey and hopefully being part of your team is part of that journey.
