Dylin Myers '18 Recruiting Profile

When I was twelve years old my stepdad handed me a golf club and I instantly fell in love with the game of golf. I did not start taking golf seriously until I was thirteen in my freshman year of high school. Now I am a sixteen year old junior and the Captain of the Varsity Team. Even though I have not been playing golf for as long as the majority of other recruits, I believe that I am able to compete and perform at the same level. My three years of playing golf have taught me how to conduct myself in a professional manner both on and off of the course. 

In the classroom as well as on the course I give 110% each day to ensure that I am able to pursue my dream of playing golf at the collegiate level while obtaining a degree in history and education. My current academic schedule includes multiple rigorous AP and honors classes that challenge me to think critically as well as solve problems on the spot.

These critically thinking skills provide me with an advantage on the golf course when I need to hit a difficult shot. I am able to assess the situation and decide which shot would be best to hit. I am also considered by my teammates and coaches to be easy to get along with and a “mom” figure to the younger players on my team. Over the course of my life I have played a countless number of sports including soccer, basketball, volleyball, and swimming. All of these experiences have given me a competitive edge that has transferred into my golf game as well. 

I am fortunate that my hard work and dedication have allowed me to compete at some of the highest levels of junior golf on SCPGA jr. Toyota Tour Cup as well as the AJGA. I have a rigorous tournament schedule that allows me to make the improvements and strides needed to compete at the next level.
