Yuma Nakamae '24 Recruiting Profile

I started golf in the 7th grade after realizing that tennis wasn't the sport for me.  My mother, who came to the practices with me, realized that golf was a good fit for me and encouraged me to try harder to become better. After joining the 7/8 team in middle school, I started to go out on the course more often, usually par 3s, and found it enjoyable.  The satisfaction of chipping in a birdie or the feeling of getting a smooth 5-foot putt in was too good to stop.  And here I am now.  On the varsity golf team at Marlborough school, I attend early morning practices at the Wilshire Country Club, go to conditioning at 7 in the morning every Wednesday, and be a part of the matches against other competitive private schools.  This year my team and I hope to qualify for the CIF Division III tournament.
