Golf has always been a part of my life, so much so that I grew up playing with my dad. Until two years ago when I joined my high school's golf team, I had never competed before and saw it more as something fun to do. It was put on the back burner to my other sports, but in recent years I have become much more passionate about the sport. It has allowed me to realize that there is a way to have fun and enjoy a sport while competing in it. Being able to play golf in college will give me something to look forward to. It will also help motivate me to keep my grades up as high as possible. Being able to compete in golf tournaments will not only be able to help me as an athlete but also as a person. In past years, it has come to my attention that when I play in a tournament I learn more about myself and how I can play better than I do in most practices. I love learning about how I can do better, and tournaments only help me learn faster.
In my family, athletics has always played second fiddle to my academics. The one rule regarding athletics from my family was that if my grades were not good, then I would be unable to play any sports. This has allowed me to understand how important my grades are. Keeping my grades up has always been important to me, and as someone who is part of the concurrent enrollment program with Pikes Peak Community College, passing my classes with a good grade has become valuable to me. Being a hard worker in both sports and in school, I am always willing to learn and challenge myself in new ways. I love helping people in either sports or school, this allows me to learn from myself and from them. I believe that I could be an asset because of how willing I am to help others and the fact that I can be reliable.
I have always had goals for myself, and often use them as a way to motivate myself. However, most of them are short-term goals that help to keep me engaged, because of this I do not have too many long-term goals. The few that I do have however are based around my high standards for myself. My main goal in life is to graduate college and go into med school so that I can become a doctor. This has always been a dream of mine, and I am determined to work hard enough to make it. My second goal for myself is to be more comfortable leaving my comfort zone. This may seem like a strange goal, but for me it is crucial.
