I started playing golf at the age of five. Other than golf I have grown up playing a variety of different sports that include: water polo, swimming, softball, lacrosse, basketball, field hockey and volleyball.
During my freshman year of high school, I decided to play softball for my high school during the spring instead of golf. However, I became engrossed in golf the summer going into my sophomore year. I realized that golf is a unique sport because it challenges me physically and mentally. Furthermore, during my sophomore year, I made the easy decision of playing golf in the spring for my high school team. On the golf team, I experienced what it is like to play golf for your teammates instead of just yourself. My teammates and I play for each other, rather than just playing for ourselves. This is one of the many reasons why I have a strong desire to play college golf.
Other than golf, I play field hockey in the fall for my high school to grow as a student-athlete. I'm able to balance playing a sport while staying on the honor roll, which is a reason why I would excel as a collegiate athlete. Also, I fill the role of a leader through my extracurricular activities by coaching a YMCA 8th-grade girls basketball team. I recognize the importance of giving back and helping ensure that other young athletes have a positive experience through sports. Another activity that gives back to the community is the Young Philanthropist Program that I'm involved in. Overall, I believe that I can be an asset to a women's college golf team because I'm a leader, well-rounded, driven and care about the success of the team as a whole.
