I have a constant “itch” as my dad says to play golf. I always want to be at the course. Everyone always tells me that Golf will take me places and that there are so many more opportunities with golf than there is any other sport. That really drove me to be better. I started playing softball at age 12 and instantly fell in love with it. My freshman year i decided out of nowhere that I was gonna pick up a club and I was going to play golf. I played on varsity and we were not really that great. I averaged about 105-107 that year. My dad instantly knew (a golfer of many years), along with several of our club members that I had a natural golf swing and there was no stopping it. After that freshmen year, I put my clubs down to play softball. This year I picked up my clubs again about a month before season and I averaged about an 95 on 18 and about a 45ish on 9. I fell in love with it this year and I couldn’t put the clubs down. I suprised everyone this year by quitting softball to pursue golf. I worked very hard this season and the day I told my softball coach of 3 years that I would no longer be playing, I shot in the 80’s for the first time with and 89. The next time I played it was an 84, then an 87, then an 86. There is no way I will ever put those clubs down again, and I will work hard, as a junior next year, to thrive at this mind-blowing sport. I also want to give a shout-out to Coach Melani Corsi of Camden County Highschool Softball, for being the most supportive coach and telling me what I am doing and the choice I made was amazing.
