Hi, my name is Samantha Nichols. I've been playing golf since I was about 11. I played for a couple months then took a year off, and picked it back up when I was 13. I took time to try other things, because I didn't have a clue on what I really wanted. But in the process of trying other things I realized that this is what I really want to do, so I've been working on my game ever since. With that being said I would really like to continue playing in college, hopefully. I also want to continue to learn new skills that could make me a better player. I think I would be a good candidate, because although I'm not the best, I'm willing to put in the time to get better. I'm very coachable and I'm willing to be open to new ideas. Not only that, but I'm not most athletes. I try to be as well rounded as I can be. I'm involved in many community service activities, such as volunteering at the Humane Society, bell ringing for the Salvation Army, sending presents to kids in other countries, etc. I also value my academics. I currently have a 4.308 GPA and I like to challenge my mind to work harder by taking honors and AP classes as well as starting the running start program at the community college here. I've also been in robotics, R.O.V., Science Olympiad, science fair, etc. I may be better at school work than golf, but each year my scores have continued to drop and I'm improving more and more. I will continue to work at it and get even better than I am right now. Golf has made me learn how to balance school work, extra curricular activities, and practice. It has also given me the opportunities to make new friends, and become a better person, so I hope I get the opportunity to continue this golfing experience by playing in college.
