Hi my name is Taylor Mire and I just finished up my Junior Golf Season. I started playing golf at a young age, but have really immersed myself in the game over the past three years playing both Idaho Junior Golf and for Sandpoint High School…My coach, has spent a lot of time working on/ refining my swing and short game since I was about 12. This summer I did Washington Junior Golf, Idaho Junior Golf, and US Kids and practiced almost every day I didn’t have a tournament. That being said I am a very dedicated hard working athlete. I am always wanting to get better and improve, however being a perfectionist can be a tough trait to have in golf.
Last winter we put in a simulator and gym in our garage so I dedicated my off-season to getting stronger and building swing speed. I also was in strength classes at school. That really paid off. I can hit the ball 20-30 yards further off the tee since last year.
As a freshman (spring 2022), my scoring average was 95. Our team won districts and we qualified for state where we finished 7th and I placed 19th with scores of 98 and 92. My sophomore season got moved to the fall (2022) where I lowered my scoring average to 85. That being said, in only about a 5 month span, I lowered my scoring average by roughly 10 strokes. In Sophomore year, we won districts again but improved substantially at state where we took 3rd. I broke 80 for the first time with scores of 75 & 77, taking 7th place individually. My junior year tournament scoring average was 81 with about half my scores being in the 70s and a season low of 73. I placed first at districts leading my team to a first place finish. Then, at state I took 4th individually with scores of 82 and 79 (there were only 6 round total in the 70s in the tournament, it was a tough course) leasing my team to a 3rd place finish.
