Kate 3
Kate 2Hi ! I am Kate Maurus. I am 17 years old and have been golfing since I was 6. I have a strong passion for golf and even work at a golf course during the Spring – Fall months. My home course is Randall Oaks Golf Club (West Dundee, IL) and I work at the Golf Club of Illinois (Algonquin, IL).
I am a Senior and in my fourth year on the varsity team at Jacobs High School in Algonquin, IL. I have cherished the friendships both on and off the course that I have made as a member of the Jacobs Golden Eagles girls golf team. I am very proud of the steady progress that I and the team have made from freshman year (0-7 conference match play) to my senior year (7-0 conference match play). Our team has improved from a young and inexperienced group to a strong and competitive squad. I want to thank my coaches and parents for their encouragement and support along the way.
My current high school match PR for 9 holes is 39 (Randall Oaks Golf Club 9-10-24 vs Prairie Ridge). I am also very excited that my team finished 7-0 in match play in 2025. Along with a 2nd place finish in the 2025 Fox Valley Conference Tournament, our team won the Girls Golf Conference Championship for the first time in school history. I also advanced to Sectionals my senior year as an individual with a 17th place finish at the Regional tournament (out of 64 golfers) on 9-30-25. At Sectionals, I placed 28 out of 112 golfers with a round of 88.
Being a high school golfer and a student athlete, I have learned valuable life lessons that are keys to success both in and outside the classroom. I want to carry the strong work ethic that golf has taught me through the completion of my high school career and into college.
