Sophia Steel '22 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Sophia Steel. I am a Junior at Hoffman Estates High School and have been playing golf for 3 years. 

I have never played golf prior to entering High School. I decided to Join the golf team freshman year just because I wasn’t doing anything during the fall as I do Dance in the Winter  and Softball in the Fall. My average freshman year was around 56.8. 

I decided to practice more and get a swing coach outside of school. Sophmore year I felt more confident with my golf game and became way more interested in the sport. I shot a 102 at regionals and advanced to sectionals, which was a very rewarding experience.

I decided to continue practicing even harder and pushing myself to do my very best. Although my Junior Year was greatly impacted due to Covid 19, I was still out on the course practicing as much as I could. I took 3rd with a 85, in one of the very few tournaments we were able to have.  

I have decided that I want to continue pushing myself to be the very best golfer I can be and carry that with me through college.
