Personal Statement

Hi! My name is Kate Riesing, and I am from Arlington Heights, IL. I currently attend Prospect High School and will graduate in the spring of 2023. I started golfing in middle school where I was a 2 time IESA State Qualifier. During that time, I began working with my swing coach, Doug Brazeau, who recruited me to play in the PGA Junior League. This opportunity not only introduced me to a fun and competitive atmosphere, it also developed my passion for golf. Doug has seen my golf game evolve, and we continue to work together to improve my game.

I have been a proud member of Prospect High School girls’ golf program for the last 3 years. Prospect’s golf team has a tradition of success in our conference, area, and state, with many titles over the last several seasons. During each of my first three seasons, I earned All Conference honors, and this past season, our team won the IHSA 2A Regional tournament, where I placed 3rd individually. I followed that up with a 13th place finish at Sectionals and qualified as an individual for the IHSA 2021 State Finals.

As a student, I truly enjoy school and continually challenge myself academically while taking several Honors, AP, and Dual Credit courses. I am a member of the Prospect Leadership Council, Knights' Way Committee, National Honors Society, World Language National Honors Society, and our student government program called Associated Student Body. I am also currently working on earning my Gold Award through Girl Scouts. In the future, I plan on pursuing a math education major and a Spanish minor.

I look forward to pursuing golf as I move on to college, where I can contribute both on the course and in the classroom.
