My name is Karen Beglin, and I am a member of the Class of 2021 at Carson High School.
As well as playing on the varsity golf team, I take part in Student Council, National Honor Society, the Athletic Leadership Council and AP classes at the high school. This is my fourth year taking part in Student Council - Leadership. I currently hold the elected position of Student-Body Vice-President.
I am a straight A student with a 4.0 unweighted GPA and a 4.5 weighted GPA. I have been classically trained in piano since the age of eight. When I am not on the golf course, my hobbies include mountain biking, paddle boarding on Lake Tahoe, snow skiing, and hanging out with friends. I also babysit & have a part-time job at a Troon golf club where I work 14-20 hours per week during the school year (more during summer).
Currently, I am striving to lower my stroke average and to continue to break par during tournament play. I am also working to maintain my driver swing speed of 100 MPH. I typically practice 10 hours a week as well as 36 holes. I attend 3-4 hours of cross-training/week where I go before school, at 5 AM.
In the summer months I participate in the Northern Nevada Junior Golf Association tournaments. Whenever my schedule permits I also play on the following tours: Junior Tour of Northern California, JGANC, Future Champions and Hurricane Jr Golf Tour. I am a three-time Junior World Championships qualifier and a three-time Girls Junior Americas Cup qualifier. These qualifiers consisted of six 18-hole tournaments and the four players with the lowest differential, make the team representing Northern Nevada.
I train year-round with Chris Trevino, founder of the Trevino Golf Institute at their Reno, Nevada location. When the weather is not so great, I am able to practice and train at the TGI indoor facility which is equipped with TrackMan, TOMI Putting and several other training aids.
I play my best tournament rounds when I am playing as a member of a team. Please keep me in mind for your team for the Fall of 2021!
