Olivia Chae '21 Recruiting Profile

As a high school senior who has been playing golf for 4 years now, I aspire to continue my journey as a student athlete and golfer. I'm fully aware that I am at more of a disadvantage, having started golf late, but I believe I possess qualities that make me a good candidate for a varsity college golf team. To start, I'm extremely focused and take others instruction/advise very well. This is best exemplified by my rise to the second best player on my team after I was the worst player in my freshman year. I was only able to achieve this because I practiced at a golf camp, on average 25 hours per week, for nearly two months straight. Furthermore, I value collaboration in team work which allows me to both positively interact with other team members and recognize responsibility. I've tirelessly worked within these 4 year to continue to improve my swing, as you may see in my videos. I believe that playing on a varsity team will give me the boost I need to display my good swing through my scores, as I would be able to practice frequently every week in a team setting. In addition, I have no problems with intense fitness as I have always challenged myself with unique gym classes such as yoga fusion and core fitness and rigorously work out in my own time. Lastly, I am very much persistent and academic driven as seen in my transcript and AP/Honors classes. 

I was inspired to start golf due to my grandfather who was a self-taught golfer and highly known in the golf community around Plainview. He was such an extremely devoted player that he would practice in the rain or continue practicing at home even after he played on the course. Unfortunately, he passed away when I was in 7th grade. As a result, I turned to golf to understand the passion my grandfather had for golf and redeem myself for not getting to know him better before he died.
