Hi,
My name is Emmah Federman. I am sixteen years old, and attend Kellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale, New York. At Kellenberg, I participate in my school's orchestra, I volunteer in the school community, and hold a GPA of a 91 in the honors program. I have also been recently inducted into the National Honor Society. On my free time, I have volunteered at a local assisted living facility in recreation and exercise. I have been around the game of golf my entire life. My dad has been a member at Wheatley Hills Golf Club for around 20 years, and it has become a home for my family and I for as long as I can remember, and is where I picked up a golf club for the first time. Since I could walk, I remember holding a golf club in my hand, but unfortunately it wasn't until my high school years I truly engaged with golf. As I said, I always played golf, but I never played golf competitively. My first tournament was in the fall of my Sophomore year, where I shot 102. In less than a years time, I shaved off ten strokes, breaking 100 for the first time at Bethpage State Park's Blue Course with a score of 93. That upcoming spring, I tried out for my school's varsity golf team and made it, playing fourth spot consecutively throughout the season. During that season, I was able to qualify for our catholic league tournament, which then allowed me to qualify for New York State's Federations. This event was held at Bethpage Park's Yellow course, where I was able to place 41 out of 82 girls in my first ever states tournament. Shortly thereafter, I entered into another tournament at Bethpage Yellow, where I broke 80 for the first time with a score of 78, shooting even par on the back nine. This was an extremely exciting moment for me as a golfer. In this short time, I was able to accomplish so much as a golfer, and it has inspired me to love the game and to pursue it at a higher level.
