My name is Emma Miller and I am a 2024 women’s golf recruit from Ardrey Kell High School, in Charlotte, North Carolina. I have played on my high school’s Varsity Women’s Golf Team since my freshman year. As a member of this team, I have had the honor of competing and winning at the conference, regional, and state level. During my sophomore season, I was named to the All-Conference Team and won our team’s Most Improved Player Award. During my junior season, in addition to again competing at the local, conference, regional and state levels, I was named to the district's All-Conference Team, awarded our team's Drive for Perfection award, and selected to the Charlotte Observer Newspaper's All Girls Golf Team.
As I progress through my junior year of high school, I am even more confident and excited about the prospect of combining my academic and athletic gifts and talents as I solidify my plans for college. As I think about my collegiate future, my goal is to attend a strong academic institution that allows me to study political science so that I can fulfill my dreams of one day becoming a lawyer. In addition to attending a university with a rigorous academic program, my goal is to also become a member of a competitive women’s golf program, so that I can continue to compete in the sport that I love.
My strong leadership skills in the classroom, in my community, and on the golf course, make me an ideal candidate for a collegiate golf team. Through various academic, civic, and athletic experiences, I have learned what it takes to set goals, work hard, persevere through challenges, and achieve both personal and team successes. In the classroom, I have maintained a 4.41 GPA while taking a rigorous course load, in all honors and AP classes. In my community, I serve as a Senior Girl Scout and in leadership positions in my religious youth group. On my high school team, I am the varsity team’s co-captain and a representative on the Ardrey Kell Student Athlete Leadership Council. These experiences and leadership positions demonstrate that I am able to manage my time well, adapt to change, and work with lots of different people. I have the proven ability to be successful both in the classroom and on the course, hence making me an ideal selection for a collegiate golf program.
Above all else, what makes me a unique and ideal candidate is my character. I am trustworthy, reliable, and generous. I live under the motto of “love what you do and do what you love.” What I love most is helping others, hence why I want to be a lawyer. I try to achieve this goal everyday by taking part in service projects and volunteering. Through this, I have learned that my love for service and my love for the game of golf is what truly makes me who I am as an individual and who I am as a part of a team.
