Personal Statement

I am a well-rounded, mature team player with a positive attitude and I want to play competitive golf in college. I love playing the game and taking advantage of the opportunities it provides for me to see new places, build new skills, meet new people and grow as a person and in my game. This summer I received scholarships to attend the Pinehurst Junior Golf Academy, the Carolinas Leadership Adventure at the First Tee of Coastal Carolinas and the Joe Louis Barrow Life Skills & Leadership Academy at Boise State University. I played amazing courses like Pinehurst No. 2, met some incredible friends and mentors and had so much fun improving my game.

I am an A student and an Ace Level participant working on my certification at The First Tee of Charlotte. Through the First Tee I have caddied at the Wells Fargo Tournament, attended an LPGA Conference in Pinehurst, greeted donors and participated in panel discussions at fundraising events and my goal for the upcoming year is to be selected to play in the PURE Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach next fall.

I love to travel and have participated in many sports and activities and I know that golf, school and my volunteer work are where I want to put my focus during the rest of my high school career. I volunteer as a coach with The First Tee and LPGA Girls Golf and I love working with kids and sharing what I have learned with them. My goal for my high school golf season is to make it to States again and improve my score. I also plan to continue to challenge myself to improve my game by playing more tournament golf and I look forward to seeing where this sport will take me.

2019 Joe Louis Barrow, Jr. Life Skills & Leadership Academy - Awarded Full Scholarship

I was one of 96 First Tee participants from around the country selected to receive a full scholarship to attend the 2019 Joe Louis Barrow, Jr. Life Skills & Leadership Academy at Boise State University. The purpose of the academy is to educate participants in multiple aspects such as life skill development through engaging golf activities, leadership seminars, college preparatory and dorm living and career exploration, all while having the opportunity to play championship golf and develop lifelong friendships. Participants will be inspired to consider how they can return to their chapters and communities and be a leader and role model for other participants.

Coastal Carolinas Leadership Adventure - Awarded Full Scholarship

I received a scholarship through The First Tee of Charlotte to attend the Carolinas Leadership Adventure Academy at The First Tee of Coastal Carolinas in Brunswick County NC. The in-residence program immerses teenage participants in a high intensity leadership experience focused on leader training and golf activities. The overall theme of the program is "leadership for life" and activities are based on character development, core values, life skills, leadership and citizenship development through classroom training, social interaction and supporting activities focused on educating, encouraging and enabling them to use the learned leadership skills in their communities, schools and neighborhoods and to develop a personal campaign for their high school and college years.

Junior Golf Academy in Pinehurst, NC - Awarded Full Scholarship

I was selected to receive the Isaac B. Grainger, Jr. Scholarship to attend the Junior Golf Academy in Pinehurst, NC for one week. The Isaac B. Grainger, Jr. Scholarship was begun, and is funded in part, by The War Heros' Initiative Fund of the Community Foundation in Richmond, VA. It is awarded to participants who are actively participating in the First Tee of Charlotte programs and who exemplify knowledge and application of the Life Skills Curriculum and the program's Nine Core Values, The scholarship will provide participants an opportunity to improve their golf skills and knowledge of the game by attending the Pinehurst Junior Golf Academy with instruction designed just for them for one week in Pinehurst, NC with all expenses paid.
