I've played golf off and on for a few years. I tried out for my High School Golf team and fell in love with this sport. As a freshman. I played well enough to earn a spot on the varsity team and scored in every match we played. As the season progressed, my golf became better and better. I started my that season with our league's preseason tournament. I was very nervous but carded the second-best score on my team. In my league post-season tournament, I took 12 strokes off my score and again took second place on my team. I am very happy with the improvements I've made throughout the course of my first season at the varsity level.
My sophomore season was even better earning a first team honors for my league, the Metra Athletic Conference. I enjoyed making friends with the older girls in the league and appreciated how they mentored me.
As a junior, I again earned first team honors and came in a close second for the Player of the Year. My scores improved and we accomplished a lot as a team.
My senior year is over. I had some ups and downs and learned a lot about handling pressure and expectations. I rallied at the end of the league season to earn enough points to earn Player of the Year for the Metro Athletic Conference. I am thankful for the support from my teammates, coach and parents.
I am both excited and apprehensive about college. I've done a few unofficial visits and I look forward to exploring more campuses over the coming months. I am open to staying in Ohio and to finding a good fit further away from home too. I am uncertain of what I want to study in college but am currently exploring a few options. If I can play golf while attending college, that would be a dream come true. If I can reduce some of my college costs by playing golf, even better.
