Personal Statement

Hi! I'm Kaylan Green, i just turned 14 and I am a passionate golfer with big dreams of playing college golf. I just started grade 9 and will be Graduating high school in 2028.  I'm committed to my sport, and practise every single day. I have a strong work ethic and a passion for the game.  I am determined to excel and won't disappoint on my journey to success.

I have been working on my swing all season and just got my swing speed up over 105 mph and my avg drive is around 275.   I continue to work on my short game to get my tournament scoring avg down. My putting and chipping has improved all season. I won my first U19 Ontario Provincial Championship this summer and it was just an incredible experience.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • GAO Supercamp
  • 9/22/24 to 9/25/24
  • GAO Supercamp is a tournament that invites top 30 girls and top 30 boys to a final event of the season. I was exited to be able to play in this event. Unfortunately, on the morning of the first round I woke up with the flu. By the 8th whole I was really struggling ( dizzy and sick to my stomach )and almost decided to withdrawal, but i pushed through and finished the round. Wasn't the first round score I was hoping for. (85) I didn't feel much better for the next 2 rounds but manages to shoot 79 and 77 respectively to finish the tournament.
  • Camp/Event
  • U15 Golf Canada National Championship
  • 8/28/24 to 8/29/24
  • I was excited to play this week and really wanted to have a good response to my not great scores the week before at Team Canada tryouts. I had a great tournament and shot 74 71. I was happy with my finish and this being the last tournament for the summer.
  • Camp/Event
  • Team Canada Selection Camp
  • 8/23/24 to 8/26/24
  • This was an honour to be invited to. The top 18 under 19 year old girls who have shown a lot of progress and who could be prospect for Team Canada Next Gen team were invited. This was an incredible experience. Unfortunately, coming into this event I wasn't swinging my best and was disappointed in my play this week. I really needed some time to do some maintenance on my swing and just hadn't had a break in over a month. I grinded it out and played ok but not my best. Had some great shots and then some bad luck the last day getting stuck in some fescue and putting up some big numbers. I was 1 over through 12 and then took a 9 and a 7 and didn't really recover. I really hope to be back next year.
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA Randy Wise
  • 8/13/24 to 8/15/24
  • I was playing so well coming into this event. I had a very interesting first nine of the first round shooting 10 over through 9 holes, I could not figure out was was going wrong. I was 1 over on the back to get things somewhat back to normal. I shot 74 the second round but that wasn't enough to make the cut. Did figure out my swing was out of sync as my alignment was off and i was now coming over the top with my driver and hitting cuts instead of draws.
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA Randy Wise Qualifier
  • 8/11/24 to 8/11/24
  • An amazing event, had 4 birdies on the front a personal best for me but had a few mistakes on the back and shot 72 to win the qualifier.
  • Camp/Event
  • Golf Ontario Under 15 Provincial Championships
  • 8/08/24 to 8/09/24
  • This was a fun event, not a great course as conditions were a bit rough. played well and came in 7th place.
  • Camp/Event
  • Under 19 Golf Ontario Provincial Match Play Championships
  • 7/28/24 to 7/31/24
  • This was my first time playing Match Play. It was a strong field of mostly older girls who have played before and some girls who were going off to NCAA division 1 schools in September. I won my first Match and then I went on to win a 4&3 win in the Round of 32, a 3&1 win in the Round of 16, a 4&3 win in the Quarter-Finals, a 3&2 win in the Semi-Finals, and a 21 hole win in the final match. I was down 3 going into the 10th hole and came back to AS on 14. I fell back after losing on 17 and fought back to win the 18th to go into extra holes. We tied the first playoff whole and on the second hole of sudden death I sunk a 32 foot putt to halve the hole. On the 3rd sudden death hole, I sunk a 25 footer to win. What a good feeling playing so well in sudden death and sinking some putts.
  • Camp/Event
  • Canadian Junior Girls U19 National Championship
  • 7/22/24 to 7/25/24
  • I was so excited to get invited to this tournement. This was my first Canadian Junior. There were 156 girls playing and my goal was to make the cut. I shot 75 79 to make the cut and 74 in the 3rd round. 20th place going into the final round. I shot 83 in the final round as I just couldn’t make my putts. But I learned so much from my first final round being in the top 5 groups and about myself and how to manage my emotions throughout the day. It was such a good tournament. I had no 3 putts the first 3 rounds and a few in the final round. I had 2 eagles as well which was a first for me in a tournament of this size and this yardage. Came in 30th over all out of 156
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA All Stars York PA
  • 7/16/24 to 7/18/24
  • My first AJGA tournament. Was an amazing experience had a tough first round with my putting but played well in the second and third round and made the cut and finished 16th place.
  • Camp/Event

  • My second AJGA qualifier, I shot 74 and came in 3rd place to qualify for the York All star tournement.
  • Camp/Event
  • Golf Ontario Under 19 Provincial Championships
  • 7/08/24 to 7/11/24
  • My first 4 day tournament. Was a beautiful course and a really tough track. I was excited to get invited and my goal was to make the cut. My first round I Shot 73 and was so happy with my play. My second round I was so nervous on the back 9 that I made a few bogeys and I thought I wasn't going to make the cut. I followed the bogeys with a few birdies and shot 76. I made the cut, my first in a 4 day event. The 3rd round it poured rain and conditions were not the best, greens were inconsistent with water and I shot an 81. My final round 77 had me finish 28th out of 90 under 19 girls. It was an amazing experience.
  • Camp/Event
  • Quebec Next Gen
  • 7/03/24 to 9/05/24
  • This was my second 3 day event of the season and another event with a cut. It was a really challenging course and I really liked playing it. I shot 79 79 to make the cut. I was really excited as it was my first cut made. My final round was also a 79 as I made double on the 18th. I cam in 11th place over all and was really proud of my week
  • Camp/Event
  • Usga Junior Girls Championship Qualifier
  • 6/19/24 to 6/19/24
  • This was a great experience, It was my second time playing in this event. I did it when I was 13 in St. Catherines Ontario last year. I played really well and really pushed it on the back 9 but still came up short and made a few mistakes trying to push it. Again, I keep learning from my experiences and I really hope ot qualify for this event one day. Shot 79
  • Camp/Event
  • Women's Match Play Qualifier
  • 6/15/24 to 6/15/24
  • This was an 18 hole qualifier to play in the Womans Match Play. The top 16 get in. Unfortunately I came up just short. But was a really great day and experience. This is my first year playing qualifiers, so its been great playing these events and getting experience.
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA QUALIFIER Junior Memorial
  • 6/02/24 to 6/02/24
  • My first AJGA qualifying event. Played really well through 13 /14 holes and was in 2 then 3rd place. It looked like I was going to qualify but then had a few bad finishing holes and missed top 3 and didn't qualify.
  • Camp/Event
  • Golf Ontario Spring Classic
  • 5/18/24 to 5/21/24
  • The next week we were back at Firerock Golf Club. It rained the whole tournament and it ended up being 2 rounds instead of 3 because of course conditions. Was a great Tournament. I Shot 80 81 and hot 14 greens the first day and 15 the second. My putting was just not good enough. At least I know what to work on.
  • Camp/Event
  • Golf Canada Next Gen
  • 5/10/24 to 5/12/24
  • This was my first Next Gen Canada event. I had a great practice round and took some great notes to get to know the course. I Shot 78 78 and just missed the cut. It was a plus 6 cutline so I just missed. Was low 22 golfers so tough cut to make. I was really happy with how I played. It was my first event with a cut.
  • Camp/Event
  • Woman’s US Open Qualifier
  • 5/01/24 to 5/01/24
  • Was an amazing experience. I had never played 36 holes in one day before. Shot 78/83. Was so much fun playing with college and LPGA players. I hit the ball really well, my average drive was around 285 all day. My irons were really good, I just could not figure out the greens. They were so big and so fast. Nothing I had played before were like that. It was an incredible experience.

  • 7/26/23 to 7/29/23
  • Was an amazing experience this was. I got to play Pine Needles where they played the LPGA US Open. a few years ago. I have never played a course like this before. I played great in my practice round but struggled the first round with course management. I kept leaving the ball in. tough spots. I had a great second and third round and felt really good about the way I played. amazing experience.
  • Camp/Event
  • GAO - Golf Ontario Juvenile Boys & Girls U17 Qualifier
  • 7/18/23 to 7/18/23
  • This was not the best kept course I have ever played. But a few early mistakes cost me qualifying. I did grind it out with some birdies but ended up coming in 3rd place and there was only 2 qualifying spots. My take aways was to work on some course managment when I knew the leaderboard was close.

  • Camp/Event
  • U.S. Girls' Junior Qualifier
  • 6/19/23 to 6/19/23
  • This was the biggest event I have ever played. It was under 19, so never played with girls that age. I was so nervous but used my nerves as a positive. I had a great caddy and I hit the ball so well that day. Had a few bad breaks that ended up with a few high scores on a few holes but stayed focussed and didn't let them get to me. I am really proud of this round even though I didn't score as well as I would have liked.

  • First tournament of the season. It was a rainy cold day. Shot 79 after I missed a short putt on 18 for a 78 and was tied for first. Unfortunately lost in a playoff. Was really pleased with my first tournament of the year. Also reminded me I need to focus more on my short putts.
