Taryn Shine '23 Recruiting Profile

Hello future coach! I am Taryn Shine.  Thank you for taking a look over my profile! I have been a part of the game of golf since a very young age, mostly thanks to my dad, who is the head golf professional at Commonwealth National in Horsham, PA. Although, throughout my life I have dabbled in many different sports from soccer, to track, and I never really took a main focus on golf until I decided I wanted to play for my high school golf team. With that being said, I am a bit of a late bloomer, but I have already made loads of progress and do not plan on stopping. Last season, my handicap went from about 10 to 4.

Key Traits:

1) Coachable- I appreciate a tough coach who will push me to be the best version of myself.

2) Driven/Hardworking- I will never give half effort; if I have a goal, I see it through.

3) Versatile Athlete- I have played many different varsity sports throughout my life such as track, soccer, field hockey, and of course golf!

4) Loyal- This is what makes me a good teammate. I am always there for the people on my team to support them and inspire them.

5) Technical- I understand the mechanics of the golf swing and have the ability to "self-diagnose" when it comes to certain issues I may be having.

6) Good Student- Not only do I take athletics seriously, I also take pride in my current GPA of 4.4 with taking all honors and an AP.

7) Disciplined- Whether it's golf or working out, I do not always find myself to be motivated... who does?! I owe my discipline credit for getting things done.

With all of this being said, I feel like I am very capable of being a key member of any team, as long as you give me the chance to gain more experience and to progress into the golfer I know I can be.
