Hello, my name is Maddie Childs. I am a sophomore at Mitchell High School in Mitchell, South Dakota and will graduate in the Spring of 2026. From a young age, golf has always played an important role in my life and soon after age 6, I fell in love with the sport. I have filled my summers and winters with hours of training and tournament play and have continued to improve my game each year.
I have been playing competitive golf since age 10 and have been on my high school’s varsity golf team since I was in 7th grade—my team was runner-up that year in the AA South Dakota Championships. The following two year’s we were runner-up and then Champions setting a number of school records. Throughout the summer I competed on the SDGA Junior Tour and, for the past 2 seasons, have competed on the Sanford Series, a competitive college preparatory circuit. In fact, I was fortunate enough to take medalist honors in my second Sanford tournament of the summer.
It has always been my dream to play collegiate golf after high school, and I plan on making that a reality. Although I am kind and compassionate, I am a fierce competitor; all qualities that I feel make me a quality teammate at any school. Furthermore, I love to challenge myself and always look for different ways to improve my game. When practice is over, you can find me taking advantage of the empty practice green. You will also find that I am equally hardworking in the classroom, and that has contributed to my impeccable 4.0 GPA as an honors student.
With the opportunity, you will find me to be an engaged and hardworking team player, and a positive representative of my family, my team, and the game of golf. These actions will extend well beyond the golf course as I study to become a chiropractor.
It is my aim to excel as your program’s next leader in a way that aligns with my academic and athletic objectives.
