Golf has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My first "swing video" was for a commercial that was promoting the golf courses my dad used to run when I was 3! I remember watching my older sister play high school golf and wanting to follow in her footsteps. I started to golf competitively when I was around 10 years old. I also have participated in The First Tee since I was very young, and that introduced me to the understanding of how much we can learn about life from golf. Golf has exposed me to skills, such as leadership and responsibility, that can be applied both on and off the course.
I joined the O'Gorman High School golf team as an 7th grader and have played varsity since the 8th grade. My team has won the state tournament 3 years in a row and I've placed 6th, 9th, and 8th the last 3 years. My high school golf experience has been life changing and I hope that my future college experience has the same impact. I have learned to play in a system that emphasizes the "team" aspect of school golf, and I know that I will be a valuable addition to any college team.
Academically, I carry at 4.0 GPA and have scored a 24 on my SAT. I am looking forward to attending a college that will challenge me and lead to to discover what I would like to pursue. Right now I am "open" to explore different courses of study.
Ben Hogan said that, "the most important shot in golf is the next one". This quote has always stuck with me because I can apply it to my experiences outside of golf as well. I know that college golf is my next "shot" and I am excited for the opportunity to make a positive contribution to a college team.
