Personal Statement

Golf is many great things, but one of the main reasons why I enjoy golf, is the competition between me and my opponents. Golf is one of the few sports that plays like an individual sport. In golf I do not have to rely on someone to hit a good shot or make a putt. It is me and me only out on the course and that’s why I love it. Even though I have only been playing golf for about two years now, it still has taught me a lot. I have learned that you can not blame anyone else for your mistakes except yourself, and when you hit that incredible shot, the happiness and excitement that overcomes your body is the best feeling in the world.

What would I bring to your team? I would bring my feisty, determined attitude and relentless mind set. I’m always up for a good challenge. I love it when someone says I can’t do something because it makes me even more determined to prove them wrong.  Another impact I would bring to my team is that I would always try to challenge my teammates into being the best that they can be, because it’s not only my score that is important to me, but also the scores of my teammates.

What am I looking for in a coach is someone who is knowledgeable about golf and can help me and my teammates improve. I want my coach to take winning seriously, and encourage my teammates and I to be our best.  I also want my coach to hold us accountable and lift our spirts up when we are struggling.

I’m really excited for what opportunities are out there after I graduate high school. I’m also looking forward to the next chapter of my life, and the thought of playing college golf really excites me.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Abilene Invitational
  • 3/06/20 to 3/07/20
  • I shot 86 on day 1 and 95 on day 2 which led my team both days, but wasn't up to the standard I was looking for. My ball striking wasn't as consistent as it needed to be which resulted in several shots ending up in hazards. Highlight for me was continued solid putting performance with 32 putts both days, including 2 birdies both days. Finished 19th out of 58 participants.
  • Camp/Event
  • Amarillo Partnership
  • 2/28/20 to 2/29/20
  • This was a two-person partnership with 3 different formats each day. 6 holes of Low Ball, 6 holes of Alternate Shot, and 6 holes of Scramble. My partner and I placed 5th out of 19.
  • Camp/Event
  • NTPGA Tournament - West Medalist 200
  • 2/22/20 to 2/22/20
  • Placed 3rd out of 6 golfers in my age division. Shot 83 which I was happy with considering I didn't drive the ball as good as normal and put myself in a few tough spots. I made up for it by putting very well with only 27 putts on the round.
  • Camp/Event
  • Frenship Invitational
  • 2/07/20 to 2/08/20
  • This was the first school event of the Spring 2020 season. My game was a bit rusty as there hadn't been much opportunity in the weeks leading into this event due to weather. I shot 91 at Rawls and 93 at Reese. Placed 19th out of 50 golfers. Ball striking was decent but putted rather poorly both days.
  • Camp/Event
  • Amarillo Relays
  • 10/04/19 to 10/05/19
  • Led team with an 87 on day 1 at TCC. Tied for team lead on day 2 at ACC by shooting 89. Finished tournament in a tie for 11th out of 33 golfers.
  • Camp/Event
  • Plainview Triangular
  • 9/21/19 to 9/21/19
  • Tied for lead on the team after shooting 88. Team placed 3rd out of 11 teams. Individually finished in a tie for 7th out of 58 golfers.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2019 Red Raider Classic
  • 9/13/19 to 9/14/19
  • Led team with an 85 on day 1 which was the fourth best round in the second flight. Again led team on day 2 with a 91 which was the third best round in the second flight. Team won 1st in the second flight and I took third place medalist in the second flight.
  • Camp/Event
  • Hereford Fall Invitational
  • 9/06/19 to 9/07/19
  • Day 1 - shot 92. Day 2 - shot 80. Took 2nd place medalist position, and had the lowest individual round of the tournament.
