I fell in love with golf during the spring season of my freshman year of high school. I didn't realize how much different school golf would be from the summer tournaments I had previously played in. I felt like everything had a purpose. My practices became more focused and my scores began to drop. I was district champion as a freshman and qualified for the regional tournament. I decided that I didn't want to stop there; I wanted to play for the state title.
I went through a club and swing change before my sophomore year. I struggled that summer, but when golf season neared I was striking the ball well. My scores were lower that season, but I still didn't qualify for the state tournament.
Junior year everything fell into place. I shot my best score ever at district, and went on to do even better at regional. I tied for second place, losing only to the soon to be state champ.
State was amazing. The course was beautiful and playing at that level with the best girls in Texas was exhilarating. I ended placing 10th out of a field of 72 girls.
I want nothing more than to play golf at the collegiate level. I believe that I would be a great asset to a college team because I am a hard worker and I strive to play better everyday. That is one of the many things I love about golf: there are no limits to how great you can become.
