My name is Rachel Morton from Cleburne, Texas. Growing up in a small town you either played football or volleyball because that's just what you did. I played volleyball for five years and started focusing more on golf going into my freshman year, which most people didn't understand. I completely fell in love with the sport and have committed to it ever since. My very first tournament I shot 128 and by the end of that year I finish district in the 80's. At the end of sophomore year I shot 78, 82 in the district tournament. In late February of 2016, I had surgery on my right ankle and was told I wouldn't make it to the district tournament. I pushed through the pain to play at the end of March. Although I shot 90-91 and was in a ton of pain, I wanted to play and be there for my team. During the Summer of 2016 I focused on golf and a college course. I shot by personal best at Diamond Oaks Country Club in August, 77, and that motivated me to get even more prepared for the upcoming season. While focusing on golf, I also maintain great grades and have remained at the top of my class since freshman year. I mainly competed as in an individual in district throughout my 4 years and would love the opportunity to be apart of team. I have the tenacity and the drive to compete at the collegiate level and my competitiveness would allow me to succeed. My college plan includes hopefully playing golf in college while majoring in Marketing. After getting my Bachelor's, I will apply to to get my Masters in Marketing. After getting both degrees I would love the opportunity to still work in the golf industry with a major brand.
