I come from a family of golfers and, although I started playing competitively a little later than most of my peers, I am chasing my dream of playing in college and beyond. What makes me different is that I didn't get serious or compete until I was a sophomore in high school. My golf game has evolved very quickly, and although I have a lot of development left to do, I am now confident that I can compete at any level.
I came to know the game of golf through my Dad, who has been a scratch player since he was a teenager. His sister, my Aunt Monica, has been one of my biggest inspirations. She was a two time All SWC golfer at Texas A&M before turning professional. Although I never got to meet her due to a car accident which took her life, I feel a special bond with her on the course. My dad made golf fun for me and I am so happy out on the course, I can't imagine the high of playing in college!
Academics are a huge part of my life outside of golf. If I choose to not pursue golf professionally, I may pursue a career in the medical field. My mom is a physician and my biggest inspiration. If I can help people the way she does everyday, I will be completely fulfilled. I am extremely organized and feel like I can balance the rigors of college classes with the demands of being an elite level golfer. I am a member of the National Honor Society and maintain straight "A's" in my classes. Outside of the classroom I truly enjoy music, play the guitar, and sing in our church praise band. Before golf became the main activity in my life, I was heavily involved with musical theater and enjoy being on the stage.
My golf journey started with scores in the 90's and have now dropped to consistent rounds in the low and mid 70's. My coaches, parents and I are excited about what we see coming. My goal is to compete at the highest level and to win. My strengths on the course are my length and ball striking. I am long off the tee and am comfortable on quality courses to about 6400 yards. My areas of focus are on my short game, specifically, wedges inside 100 yards, and putting. When I start converting wedge opportunities at a higher percentage, I will consistently be under par...very excited about that!
Most of all, I am a good teammate. I genuinely want to be part of a team--a tribe--that I can join in college and carry those relationships for the rest of my life.
