Emily Walker '16 Recruiting Profile

I have always been the type of person that would rather work for what they get instead of just getting handed it. My freshman year I played varsity basketball, varsity softball, varsity golf, and I was a varsity cheerleader. Sophomore year I played varsity softball and golf and was also a varsity cheerleader. My grandmother played basketball in college, my aunt went to the University of North Texas on a track scholarship, my dad played both football and baseball in college, and my sister played golf in college; I was born into an athletic family and I know that I, myself, am an athlete.
During golf season, I am at the golf course daily and I rarely miss a day. During off season, I work everyday and golf on the weekends. My golf game has grown tremendously since the end of sophomore year. Ending my 2014 golf season I was shooting 100-105, going into the 2015 golf season I was shooting mid to high 90's, and ending the 2015 golf season I was shooting in the low to mid 80's. I soon found that golf was my passion and I knew it would help me get a college education; so, I put the work in and it paid off. As a Junior, I won district, regionals, and placed 8th at state, I also accomplished something that not many people can say they have by winning the regional tournament by 20 strokes.
I am truly dedicated to the game of golf and I know I can make it playing at the collegiate level. I have the drive, work ethic, and ambition to play the sport and I just hope that I can continue learning the game at a college that fits me.
