Up until the 7th grade I played multiple sports. I experienced a severe concussion while playing volleyball. As a result, I lost all memory of the people, places and events of my past. It was so bad that I didn’t know who my parents and friends where. It took me months to recover and return to school. There were many times that I was frustrated, discouraged and wanted to give up. My doctors told me that I should give up contact sports. That’s when I got serious about playing golf. The choice to focus on golf was easy for me. I had always found playing golf a type of stress release and the golf course was a happy place for me. When having a bad day I can always go to the driving range and “swing it out”. I have learned through my years of playing that you have to be strong and confident in everything that you do. If you’re not confident in each of your shots they won’t be good. I have also learned that you must be patient and thoughtful throughout the game. These are skills that I try to apply to every aspect of my life, in school and in my relationships. You will notice from my video that I am a left-handed golfer. I am actually right-handed but have found my left hand to be dominant while playing sports.
Outside of school and golf, I spend most of my time volunteering in my community. I have held a position on the board of a philanthropic organization for the past three years. I volunteer at church, resale shops, elementary and junior high schools, animal shelters and senior centers. I have logged enough service hours to earn The President’s Volunteer Service Award for the past three years.
I am involved in several clubs and committees at my school and have taken on many leadership roles. I am the Captain of the golf team this year. Throughout college, I plan to maintain a high GPA while pursuing a degree in Education. I would like to become an elementary school teacher. When you get to know me you will see that I am compassionate, confident and will never stop pursuing my dreams.
