I never thought that playing golf would be such a unique, humbling, fascinating and rewarding experience. I really enjoy being a student athlete and being part of Johnson’s Girls Varsity Team since my sophomore year. During my first season with the team I made 2nd team all-District and my scores have helped the team secure three first place wins, 3rd place in Districts. I am also a member of the STPGA Junior Tours for the past four years which has given me great tournament experience. My name is Christina Trujillo and I’m from San Antonio, Texas class of 2020. Given the opportunity, I would love to continue on playing competitive golf in college and challenge myself academically to obtain a Masters in Engineering. Furthermore, after graduation, I hope to become a personal golf instructor and be able to support individuals with their goals.
Golf is a year-round commitment to me. Therefore, my daily dedication, determination and continuous work on my weaknesses and strengths will help me continue on improving my performance and be able to contribute to the team more effectively. Although golf is considered to be an individual game, I do not perceive it this way and I believe that all team members should work in unity to be one. Being united as one strong team it will benefit each player individually in their game.
Having an outgoing and enthusiast attitude, determination, hard work plus the ability to adapt to any situation, being very athletic, patient, confident and receive direction and feedback positively sets me apart from other individuals in golf and in the academic world. Just as golf, school is very important to me and I try my best to maintain a GPA of 93 or higher. The discipline and ethics I’ve developed through karate and golf, have and will continue to assist me in maintaining this goal and will allow me to strive for higher life ones. I always want to do my best which can be stressful at times, but keeping in mind the goals I’ve set and the rewards that may come from them, I find the strength to keep on going.
