You become and are what you are told, what you see and what you feel. The clock strikes midnight and the princess’s clothes and beauty is supposed to be turned into rags; however, this princess continues to succeed in every way. This reoccurring bedtime story is an example of the stories my mother would tell me every night before going to bed growing up instead of reading me bedtime stories written by other authors. She wanted me to become my own author in my own book of life. Each bedtime story she would say, centered on a beautiful princess being a person of high intelligences, strong physically, strong emotionally, gifted in athletic abilities, strong in integrity and having strong moral principles. This is whom I am today. I have been blessed to grow up with two parents who both were Clinical Therapist that spent their time helping the less fortunate and the disabled. I learned from an early age to work hard for my personal goals, to be kind and caring to others, but to see my goals in my head, to feel the success of the goals and to feel grateful for what I already have. My parents practice these values everyday with me. I feel I am who I am today because of their chosen professions and their approach to their own life. I, Sydney Grimes, know what I seek to accomplish in life will happen and I, Sydney Grimes, will feel grateful for the opportunities life provides me along the way.
