I started gymnastics at the age of 9 and from that point on I knew I had found my calling. Gymnastics has given me the opportunity to become part of a team, build life long friendships, and has molded me into the person I am today. Throughout the past 7 years I have not only learned more about myself because of this sport, but also how to use what I have learned to discipline my goals in life.
Deciding what to do with my life has been greatly affected by gymnastics. School has always been an important factor for me. For the past 5 years I have been at a homeschooling center so that I could maintain stability between academics and gymnastics, all the while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Homeschooling has allowed me to not only advance my studies, but to hone my skills in the gym as well. I finally made the decision to go back to school for my last 2 years of highschool and I am extremely excited, but also a little nervous. I look forward to duel enrollment next year in some college courses as a result of going back to high school. My parents and coaches have always focused my attention on academics first and gym second. I have now learned how to balance my time for myself, my family, and my gym family through their guidance and the sport.
Being part of a collegiate team has always been a dream of mine. To be able to represent a school not only academically, but athletically would be an honor for me. There is nothing better than being a part of a team that has the drive and commrodery to want to do the best that they can every time they compete. Whether I am competing or just being a cheerleader for my teammates is gratifying enough for me.
Being a leader doesn't always mean that you go first, it means you lead by example. As a leader I want the best for not only myself, but for my team as well. These past 6 years have been the most rewarding times of my young life and I can't wait to see what my future holds at any college that I can represent.
