Personal Statement

My name is Sarah Meral from Abita Springs, Louisiana and I have a passion for the sport of golf. I currently attend St Scholastica Academy in Covington, LA and am a member of the CLASS of 2022. I am looking to attend a college with outstanding academic and athletic programs that will help take my golf to the next level. I would like to attend and participate in the golf program. I believe I would be a great fit for any golf program because I have a competitive drive to win and enjoy working on the game with my peers.

I have dedicated myself to learn all aspects of the game, improve my skill set and practice to be the best golfer I can be. My work ethic includes taking one-on-one golf instruction, countless hours of practice and golf course time. I actively participate with other students in my golf academy trying to help everyone improve, while also staying passionate about competing in every skill competition we partake in.

I am looking for an opening on the golf team for the 2022 freshman class. Please review my profile and consider engaging with me to see if I would be a good fit for your golf program. I will work tirelessly to become an impact player for my team.

Activities• PGA Jr League Volunteer – Helped new golfers with basics of the golf swing, rules, golf etiquette, and sportsmanship. Would walk course with groups to caddie and motivate the younger kids. • Rob Noel Academy Volunteer – Help with summer camps and younger kids weekend academy’s, all in an effort to give back to my coaches over the years. This also was a way to give back to the game I love, by encouraging younger kids how to play and love the game of golf. • Kelly Gibson Junior Golf Tour Mentor – 2021 – Being able to mentor the younger golfers was truly great for me. As I remember when I was that age and was able to look up to the older golfers who helped me learn back then. From pace of play, to course management and etiquette being a mentor is a valuable asset for the young golfer and I was extremely happy to be a part of that experience. • Volunteered at school open house events where I helped to prepare campus to show visitors around our school. • In 2021-2022 school year I will a “big sister” for an incoming eight grader, where I will help the new student feel and become comfortable, to help them settle in to be able to grow in the high school environment. • Member of the Art Club • Member of the Key Club • Was a member of the Sweetheart court of February 2020
