"Yay!" is what my mom remembers me saying when we drove into the gymnastics center parking lot when I was a toddler. When I was three years old, I began gymnastics in a "mommy and me" class at Aiken Gymnastics in Aiken, SC. Immediately, I was hooked on the sport. My coaches opened Aiken Gymnastics in South Carolina after moving from Czechoslovakia many years ago. I am fortunate to be trained by such a skilled family. Aiken Gymnastics has won gym of the year 2017, 2018, 2021, and 2022. We have a small, but "mighty" gym. In Spring 2022, my level 8 team won first place with only three team members. We finished 1st, 2nd, & 3rd overall in all age categories combined. We proudly represented 3 of the 8 members of the SC state team at regionals. As a level gymnast, I won the state championship across all age divisions and went to regionals and qualified for nationals. I was unable to compete at Nationals due to an injury. In August, my family and I moved to Charleston, SC where I am now a level 10 gymnast at Gymnastics Academy of Charleston.
Academics is as equally as important to me as my chosen sport. My mom and coaches have helped instill that academic excellence is top priority. I aspire to become a veterinarian or to work with animals in some capacity due to my love and concern for animals or potentially become a dermatologist. However, I will always want to have some type of involvement in teaching the sport of gymnastics due to the impact it has had on my life. I have learned what hard work and discipline is and have learned how to celebrate both success and failures. Currently, I have a serious injury that I am recovering from that will cause me to miss this entire season. However, this has taught me perseverance, and the importance of being positive and to always look for silver linings. I will return stronger mentally and physically. During this time, I will be fully supporting my teammates!
College gymnastics will be both exciting and I am sure challenging at times. I see myself in an environment that allows me and facilitates opportunities to serve others in my local community while in college. Honest and sincerity is part of my moral fabric, along with being a Christian. I desire to be part of a team that is positive and encouraging of the sport, and I want to bring a great attitude, hard work, dedication, and overall team support!
