Oki/Hello, as an Indigenous student athlete, Blackfoot from the Blood Tribe, my goal is to either study in the medical field to be a first responder, study criminal justice or study criminology while playing D1 hockey. I lead by example on and off the ice, along with being a trustworthy, hardworking and encouraging teammate. I enjoy challenging my players on ice during battling drills, foot race drills, etc. Not only to help myself, but them as well to become better hockey players. My goal as a teammate is to make myself and others around me better players than we were coming into a new season. I am always doing my best to train, while also doing homework/studying and working. My love for the sport is unmatched, my passion for the sport began at 2 years old and I’ve been grinding since. I play hockey because it helps me forget all the negatives, love the burn in the legs, lungs, and arms. I was also told by my doctor I shouldn’t play anymore considering I only have one kidney, hearing those words made my heart for the game grow brighter. I hope to make it far one day and make my family and nation proud.
