Hi, I’m Lucy Armour. I have been playing hockey since my parents signed me up for Learn To Sk8 at age 6. The next two years, I played both F&D for the Falmouth town team. I was always intrigued by the goalie position and at age 9, I convinced my parents to give it a try. The next two years, I played both goalie and “out” on my town and club teams, respectively. I believe that playing all positions enhanced my ability to see the entire ice surface from goal and better anticipate the developing play, while also being a rarely found Full Right Goalie. It was at age 11 that I made the commitment to 100% goalie, competing in 150+ games, rostered on 6 teams over the next 2 years. In 8th grade, I was waivered to play for the Falmouth HS Varsity team, which went to the Mass State D2 Quarterfinals (8th) and Semifinals (9th) over the two years. During this COVID shortened year(10th), our Varsity team was undefeated during the regular season and the States were cancelled. This year (11th), we advanced to the second round, losing to #1 seed Duxbury.
When I’m not playing Ice Hockey, Field Hockey or Lacrosse, I am striving to excel in the classroom, which is equally important to me and which I currently maintain a 3.87 GPA and High Honors. In addition, I volunteer at the youth programs of all 3 sports. I also work at the local ice cream shop, Lazy Sundaes, which has further developed my accountability, team work and communication skills. I feel fortunate to have made many friends through athletics and an even smaller group that I am able to call my best friends, all of whom share the same basic values.
I would very much like to continue my strong passion for hockey by playing at a college in which I can not only contribute athletically, but able to enjoy the college experience, while pursuing my desired major of Education. I feel that as a friend, a teammate and a player that I am reliable, honest, compassionate, determined, even keeled and coachable. I am thankful to my parents, friends, teammates, coaches and teachers for supporting and providing me with the opportunities to grow. It is my goal to give back through teaching and coaching the future youth of Falmouth.
Thanks you,
Lucy
