Nikola Barkwell '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Nikola Barkwell. I am a 5’6” goaltender graduating in 2023 from Saint Paul Academy in Minnesota. I have a strong passion for playing hockey at a high level and I would love to continue playing hockey in university.

During my high school career, I played for United (my school's girls hockey team) in ninth grade, Saint Paul Roseville U15A in tenth grade, and Saint Paul Academy JV hockey (my school's boys hockey team) in eleventh grade. I spent this past season practicing with the varsity boys while playing for the JV team in games. I also backed up for varsity and played once. I spent all of my senior year practicing and being a part of the varsity team.

My coaches and teammates say that I consistently display strong physical and mental aspects to my game. The physical strengths of my game include my technical play, rebound control, and lateral movements. I am a very coachable goalie who is eager to learn and use feedback to further my play as well as being a very competitive goalie with a fierce battle mentality. 

I am also highly academic with a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.95,  a 10th-grade year GPA of 4.00, and an 11th-grade year GPA of 3.95. I am in all honors classes and will graduate with honors.
