My name is Kate, and I am an ’08, class of 2027 goaltender. I currently attend the Millbrook School (Jersey #33) and play for the Connectiicut Polar Bears 16U Tier 1 team (#35). While I have only been playing ice hockey for 6 years, it is truly my passion, and I am extremely committed to playing at the highest level that I can for as long as I can. After years of being a competitive swimmer, I decided that I wanted to become part of a team sport when I turned 10 years old. My older sister is a competitive figure skater, so my family was already spending a lot of time at the rink, and I decided to give hockey a try. As an avid skier, I was able to pick up skating quickly and started as a defender. After a few months, I was immediately drawn to becoming a goalie and have spent the past 5 years working hard to become the best goalie I can be and help send my team to nationals. I believe I serve as a positive guide for my team during games because I am extremely focused, hardworking, and dedicated to doing everything I can to stop the puck. I cheer on my teammates and my goalie partners, guide their plays, and keep them calm even if our opponents score on us. I take to heart the need to have the “memory of a goldfish” and convey confidence to my team throughout the game which allows us to push ourselves until the final buzzer. Being a goalie takes incredible precision and resilience, and I pride myself in my ability to be coached and work tirelessly to make the most out of every minute of every day to achieve my goals. Outside of my rigorous hockey schedule, I play volleyball and softball, and I enjoy playing ping-pong with my dad, doing NY Times word puzzles, going on walks with my 3 dogs, and enjoying time with my many first cousins, extended family and friends. I hope that this page has let you get to know me better, and look forward to whatever the future may bring!
