I am a 5’7.5 136 lb student-athlete playing hockey since I was 5. I started playing as a left defenseman for boys travel hockey at the age of 7 with the Long Island Gulls and then the following years all the way through Bantams and first year 16U playing at the Boys New York Aviator Travel Hockey Club. My First year of Midgets, I started transitioning to girls hockey and now I play left wing for the Princeton Tigerlilies. The love I have for this game, the teams I play for and the camaraderie is where my passion for ice hockey comes from.
I have 3 goals that I strive for: Competing in national championships which I have achieved last year by attending the USA Nationals 16U tier 2 championships in Green Bay Wisconsin; Finding an NCAA Women's hockey program, at a Liberal Arts College, where I can further develop my skills and use the discipline, perseverance and leadership, I developed playing hockey, to further my career goals which are yet to be determined; Then after College and Graduate School continue to play and support Women's Ice Hockey as a mentor and supporter. I worked hard to get to my first goal and will continue my efforts in college hockey and remain consistent and focused on my longer term goals.
What makes me a great hockey player and candidate for College hockey is my understanding of the game, specifically game situations, passing and my quick decision-making. I started taking private lessons every week since I was 5 and I dedicated time to perfecting my understanding of time and space and close ice passing to increase the speed of offensive rushes down the ice. My hard work and determination paid off as my hockey IQ developed and helped me develop into a strong player with strong fundamentals. My over 4 years of playing boys full checking hockey increased my speed, my strength, my toughness and my ability to win most battles along the boards. Playing boys hockey increased my physicality and physical confidence on the ice. I also developed a fast hard forecheck which forces mistakes in the oppositions defensive zone.
What sets me apart from other players on the ice is my work ethic and fundamentals. I consistently give 110% in every practice and game. Selfishness is not in my vocabulary; I always look for the best option, not for me, but for my team to keep us competitive. I love the intensity and competitiveness of hockey as well as the amazing environment I share with my teammates.
