Dear Coaches,
My passion for Ice Hockey began at age 6 after spending years watching my father and siblings play. My first few years of play were on boy’s travel teams but as a Peewee I also incorporated girl’s hockey. The girls teams included the Long Island Waves, Lady Islanders and the Long Island Gulls Tier 1 team.
In 2016 I entered 9th grade at Portledge Prep High School in Locust Valley, NY. This Prep School provides me with fabulous academic and athletic opportunities. I play Varsity Ice Hockey and Travel Tier I Ice Hockey simultaneously; all while maintaining high honor roll. At the end of freshman year I received both the Hockey Varsity Coaches Choice Award and the Lacrosse Varsity Coaches Choice Award. I am known to be a great team player and am very coachable.
I am proud to report that my sophomore year yielded even greater success with juggling the vigorous New Jersey Colonials 16U Tier 1 travel schedule and Portledge Varsity Ice Hockey schedule. My academic hard work achieved High Honor Roll status. I received the Academic Award for highest Chemistry grade and the Unsung Hero Award in Varsity Ice Hockey. Coach Hills reported “Lexi has gone above and beyond as a team player, constantly, happily and successfully playing both forward and defense throughout the year to meet the team needs as players were absent and injured.”
I quote another Coaches award “Lexi is a girl that never quits on an play, when beat by 25 feet one may give up, but not Lexi, she is a rocket and truly a machine, she never quits ever and this never went unnoticed by her coaches and teammates. You can see her 100% all the time smile from miles away.”
I am always positive, polite and respectful. My work ethic both on and off the ice are exemplary. As a High School Junior I have been playing Tier 1 19U for the NJ Colonials as # 36 Defense and Portledge Varsity hockey as # 21 Defense and have a 4.0 GPA. I plan to continue this success this year and throughout my senior year.
I have started the search for the perfect College match that will allow me to continue my competitive success both athletically and academically. I know that I would be an asset to any College or University interested in a solid student athlete.
Sincerely,
Lexi Hoffmann
