Hi, My name is Tereza Dolansky and I am a hockey player. I'm a 2025 graduate and I am pursuing DIII Women's Collegiate Hockey as a winger. I joined the sport of hockey at a later age so I have less experience in the sport than many of my teammates, but I don't let that stop me from trying to get better. I started skating and playing hockey in high school and my first year I was fortunate enough to be able to practice with a team to better my abilities. Even with this opportunity to better my hockey skills I was still behind so I knew I needed to work harder if I wanted a spot on a team and possibly the chance to play in college. Even though I may not have as much experience, I believe I have a lot of potential if given the opportunity.
In my first year of playing I tried out for my high school varsity team and didn't earn a spot. Of course I felt a bit sad but it just pushed me to practice more. I went to any Open skate or Stick and Puck sessions, had a lot of private lessons, signed up for training camps and clinics, trained in Slovakia over the summers, and put in hours of work at the gym. Then the next year I made my club team and my high school team, even earning the title of alternate captain for my travel team. Even with this accomplishment I keep pushing myself to get better to make my dream of playing in college come true. Being on these teams was a wonderful experience and my teammates were always helping me get better.
While I would say that I'm really focused on being an athlete I am also a good student and take many higher level classes. Balancing hockey and schoolwork was hard in the beginning but then I learned to balance my time between hockey, school, friends and family. I'm very grateful to my family who supported me in my journey, drove me to games, gave me tips and of course paid for my gear and season. My friends were also there for me when I was down about not being at the level I wanted to be and showed up to a lot of my games to cheer me on.
Being a multi sport athlete, including hockey and being an equestrian, and being a full time student helped me learn how to manage my time and work hard for what I wanted. I would say that since I'm a newcomer to the sport that I am very coachable, determined and competitive. I love spending time with my friends and family, skiing, swimming and playing volleyball.
Thank you, I look forward to connecting with you!
