Hi, my name is Amelia Schindler. I am currently a junior at Columbus School for Girls. I am a three-sport athlete (field hockey, ice hockey, and lacrosse), but my favorite sport to play is ice hockey. I had always loved ice skating when I was little, but it was when I took a "learn to play hockey" summer camp in the summer before 8th grade. From that summer camp, I started taking Saturday "learn to skate" practices, and freshman year I joined Columbus Ice Hockey Club (CIHC). I currently play as either right or left-wing but prefer right. From playing with this team, I developed my love for hockey.
As much as I love watching and playing sports, academics is something very important to me. Academics is always my first priority and sports second. My plan for the future is to become a doctor, either a raiologist or an orthopedic surgeon, so I focus mainly on STEM. From playing sports almost year-round, it has taught me how to manage my time between practices/games and schoolwork. I would love to continue playing through college and possibly when I become an adult. When the time comes for me to stop playing, I would want to become a coach to other young players, especially girls, to give back and help develop their love for the game.
