I first stepped on the ice in my home-town when I was 4 years old and playing as a right wing. It was a mess at the start but I continued to come back on the ice every Sunday because I began to love the game of hockey. I played goalie once when I was 5 because we did not have a goalie and no one else wanted to play. It was in my nature to step up and that is exactly what I did.
Unfortunately, I let every single goal in that was shot on me when I first strapped on the pads but even at the age of 5 I did not let that get to me. As I continued to grow older and stronger, I was going back and forth between playing out and playing goalie because I wanted to do both and wasn’t sure what one I had liked more . At the age of 9 I then realized playing goalie was my dream and I wanted to excel at it. It was from then that I continued to learn many new skills on and off the ice.
I am a very precise goalie and I am always working on my footwork, conditioning, agility, and flexibility. Some strengths I would say that I have is the ability to always find the puck and to stay focused throughout the game. Also, when i’m on the ice i’m very vocal to my other teammates, always talking to them and letting them know what's going on around them. Some strengths that I have off the ice are being very friendly to other teammates, always wanting to meet new people, and not being scared to talk to anyone or to speak up for myself.
Academically, I am always pushing myself to get better grades and strive for the best outcome. I have received honors every year in high school so far and in grade 8 as well. Some of my favorite subjects are mathematics, chemistry, physical education, vocal music, and core french. I intend to graduate high school with honors and to go to school in the states for exercise science/ kinesiology to become a physical therapist that I would then be able to bring back home and use in Canada.
I want to play Ice hockey in the United States because it’s a better opportunity for me to get better/grow as a goalie and to face many more competitive players just like myself. Also, I want to meet new people and learn new things that I wouldn't be able to learn back in Canada. It would be just be an amazing experience that I wouldn’t forget for the rest of my life. When I was younger, I always had unrealistic goals, for example to play professional hockey, but now as I grow my main goal is to become a Student-Athlete, while playing on a NCAA hockey team, completing my major in education and creating amazing memories with my teammates that I will spend my University years with.
I believe i would be a great addition to your team because I work very hard throughout the whole season on and off the ice, keeping up to date on my school work, training at the gym and working on my skills . Also, I have the ability to bring great leadership to the team as well as my talent as a goalie.
