Alexa Milne '22 Recruiting Profile

At the age of 6 years old I was asked to take my rotation in the net for the local league novice hockey team, and from that moment on I knew becoming a great goaltender was a path I wished to follow.   As my passion for this positon was obvious to my parents they have supported me ever since.  I became one of the first students of Matt Smith Goaltending and continue to attend private training with Matt's trainers.

Achieving 22 shutouts in my tier 1 major PW season and no goals against in the provincial championship weekend was one of my biggest accomplishments to date and looking to beat that record this upcoming season.  In the past season as a minor in tier 1, my goalie partner that was a major on the team was injured during a game and I needed to step up as I became the only goalie on the team.  I helped the team to defeat the higher ranked teams in the playoffs to win the opportunity to play in the league championships.  This experience helped me grow as an athlete as the team and coaches relied on me as the only goalie.

I am now playing for Stoney Creek Bantam tier 1 in my major year and I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me not only athletically but more importantly academically as well.  I was honored to be selected as the class valedictorian in my graduating year of 2018 by both my teachers and peers.  I am confident with my hard work and determination I will have the skill to compete for a college team.  Being a multiple sport athlete I understand what it takes to make commitments and sacrifices for the teams best interest.  

Like life, the game keeps going even when you make a mistake.  I have learned to recognize what went wrong, remain focused and take away from the mistake and improve from it.
