Alyssa Giesbrecht '22 Recruiting Profile

Ever since i started playing hockey i have always made it my goal to play university hockey.  I always love to challenge myself and improve myself on daily whether when i'm playing sports, at school, or at home. I always will aim to better myself mentally, physically, and emotionally.

 I am often referred to as a kind determined, hard working team player. My strength as a hockey player is my confidence and my determination. I am always motivated to keep going and keep improving where I can. I will always set myself little goals to achieve during a practice or a game. for example I will set a goal in practice to maybe save the first 5 shots and when I get that goal i'll keep adding to it. I want to succeed as a hockey goalie and I am willing to work hard for my goals and dreams.  I have had many coaches tell me the following...Good movement: always crisp, and sharp.  Good positioning :  able to be in the right angle or spot at the right time. Great rebound control : I am known to have great rebound control.  When it comes to games I don't let many rebounds out, but when I do they are controlled and placed in a good spot for me to make a second save or in a good position to make a breakout play.

Not only do i want to find a school for the hockey program they have, i also want to find a school that will shine me in the right direction as a student to set me up for a successful future. I think by being a student -athlete it will teach me how to balance a schedule, learn to take responsibilities seriously , and help me prepare for success in the future.
