Hockey is my number one passion in life. My speed, forechecking, aggressiveness, and being where the puck is going to be are my skills that stand out on the ice. I lead my competitive ice hockey team in assists, my high school hockey team in points and I have yet to be out skated by a team mate or anyone I’ve played against.
I love to be part of sports. Last year, I played on six sports teams and competed at OFSAA level in cross country, track and field and ice hockey. I participated in soccer, ball hockey and badminton and flag football. I was also named Junior Athlete of the year in 2012-2013. I competed in the Ontario Summer games in an Under 16 Ball Hockey team in 2012 where my team received gold and I was called up to play with the under 18 Ball Hockey Team and we won a silver medal.
Principles of nutrition, rest and routine are core to my athletic performance. I am a very disciplined athlete and outside of the rink I have my own workout schedule and run 4 times a week and do a core and upper body workout twice a week. I am extremely driven, and I work extremely hard to stay above and beat competition.
Staying on top of my school work is important for my to excel academically in the future and prepare for a professional career. Currently my average is 81% and my desire is to pursue health and physical education and/or business.
I understand the value in giving back to my community. I have coached a soccer team for 8 and 9 year. Coaching made me realize how much I love working and teaching other people, how my strong love is for sports, and that I am a natural leader. I understand the importance of making a difference in young athletes by motivating them to better themselves and excel in a fun environment. Other community commitments I have had include camp leader for a children’s summer camp, childcare at church nursery, time keeper at local arena, recycling program at school and assistant instructor with young hockey players.
My strong work ethic on and off the ice is one of my greatest attributes. Guarantee I work harder that anyone that you put me against. I have proven to be a team player by consistently showing respect for team members on and off the ice. Leadership is also a strong characteristic I have shown through my ability to motivate my team members with words, encouraging them to excel through example, and be the best they can be. I am the assistant captain of my high school hockey team and see it as a privilege being in my junior year of a varsity team.
