My name is Shannon O’Connor and I have been playing Ice Hockey for 8 years. I am a forward but can back-check to help the defenseman. I have played all levels of hockey including Tier 1 for the Chicago Fury. Most of my experience has been on Tier 2 teams in Pittsburgh PA. While playing for all girls travel teams, I have also played with AA boys for the past 5 years. Last season, I attended school in Canada and played for a U20 team. One of my favorite things about being on the ice is the adrenaline rush of a break away or making a nice saucer pass to a teammate. Of course, nothing beats the feeling of scoring a goal and helping my team win a game. My biggest strength is my Hockey IQ, I can see a play develop and keep myself in position for the best play. My biggest weakness is my size, so I understand that I need to be fast and agile. I am spending time during my off season working on my edge work and foot speed so I can be the best teammate possible. Being a part of a team has taught me about perseverance, leadership, and discipline. I love having fun on the ice and I want to share that with future generations of young hockey players. My goal is to attend a University/College with strong academics that will allow me to play the game I love while I study for my future career.
