Rebecca Parks '20 Recruiting Profile

Growing up playing sports I have always been told “No less than 110%” and that is what keeps me going everyday. I was drawn to sports at a young age; collecting baseball cards, attending major league games and more! 

I was 7 years old when I started playing softball and I fell in love. I’ve played all over the country and won so many tournaments. A big dream of mine was to make the High School softball team. But my freshman year of high school it all changed. I made new friends and they had all went to Crew camp the summer before and loved it. So I went out for the team. Not even knowing what crew was but I fell in love. The other novices were all freshman that year and we worked hard to earn our spots in the boats we wanted. I was a first year varsity because I have no less than 110%. 

I would stay after practice and erg with coaches, learn new techniques, and learn how to skull. At my high school we have a fall and a spring season. Softball tryouts were in the spring. But I no longer wanted to play softball. I had fallen in love with this sport and I didn’t want to look back. 

Since my freshman year of high school I have won over 20 medals, 2 city cups, The Hebda  Cup from Michigan and have came so close to competing at nationals. 

I am a active member in my community as well as my church. I believe that I have what it takes to be a Collegian Rower.
