My hockey journey started in 2nd grade with a floor hockey unit in gym class. Despite not having a hockey program at my small rural school, I begged my parents to sign me up for a program in Marshfield, Wisconsin, and have been in love with hockey ever since. It started off with 45 minute drives to the rink, but ever since I started high school hockey, driving distances have been up to an hour and a half each way just to get to daily practices. This shows my dedication to the sport, and that I'm willing to go the extra mile (or 88 to be precise) for it. After two years as a skater, I decided to try something new and play goalie, and have continued to throughout my high school career. I also enjoy playing softball and doing Taekwondo. My many years of martial arts training has had a huge impact on my mental side of the game, which I believe is just as important as the physical aspects. Martial arts has taught me how to stay calm in stressful situations, keep my cool when I've had a bad play, and regain focus after a goal has been scored. Academically, I currently have a 3.97 GPA, and participate in many extracurriculars including FBLA, Math League, Solo and Ensemble, and volunteer work as part of the National Honor Society. Grades have always been important to me, even though I often complete assignments in the back of my parents' vehicles on the way to practices. I hope to continue my dedication to athletics and academics by participating in a collegiate hockey program and continue developing my skills.
